TOPS give-away GOLD MEDALS to 28 ‘Top Students’ at Glittering 150 Years Closing Ceremony

THE OLD PATRICIANS gave away 28 exquisitely crafted GOLD MEDALS to 28 ‘Top’ students from Classes I to X and O and A Levels at the glittering 150 Years Closing Ceremony held on May 6, 2011 in the school’s premises. Approx 1,500 people, mostly students and parents, and about 100 ex-students attended the grand occasion. The school band was in attendance.

Archbishop Evarist Pinto was the Chief Guest and Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Sindh Minister for Education, the Special Guest of Honour. The Minister was also an ex-student of the school. Rev. Fr. Joseph Paul, Rector and Rev. Fr. Norbert Mendonca were also present on the occasion, along with members of the clergy, principals of various CBE schools and prominent guests.

TOPS had the distinction of contributing two major aspects of the closing ceremony. Firstly, the special 4-page supplement in the daily DAWN of May 6, and another special-page in THE NEWS gratis courtesy of Mir Shakil ur Rehman, also a former student on campus. Secondly, the initiation and commemoration of 28 Gold Medals – all donated by ex-students from here and abroad.

The Gold Medals distribution ceremony was the one of the main highlights of the closing-day celebrations and ably conducted by Jeremy Nazareth, assisted by the members of The Old Patricians which included Roshan Zamir, Feroze Turab and Menin Rodrigues. The Gold Medals were superbly crafted by Salim Issa of London Watch Company, Saddar.

The archbishop, the guest of honor and the principal were assisted on stage by Kader Shajani, President of TOPS as the recipients came up to receive their Gold Medals from the Donors present or their representatives. Following are the details of the Gold Medals Distribution:
