TOPS give-away GOLD MEDALS to 28 ‘Top
Students’ at Glittering 150 Years Closing Ceremony
THE OLD PATRICIANS gave away 28 exquisitely crafted GOLD MEDALS to
28 ‘Top’ students from Classes I to X and O and A Levels at the
glittering 150 Years Closing Ceremony held on May 6, 2011 in the
school’s premises. Approx 1,500 people, mostly students and parents,
and about 100 ex-students attended the grand occasion. The school
band was in attendance.
Archbishop Evarist Pinto was the Chief Guest and Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq,
Sindh Minister for Education, the Special Guest of Honour. The
Minister was also an ex-student of the school. Rev. Fr. Joseph Paul,
Rector and Rev. Fr. Norbert Mendonca were also present on the
occasion, along with members of the clergy, principals of various
CBE schools and prominent guests.
TOPS had the distinction of contributing two major aspects of the
closing ceremony. Firstly, the special 4-page supplement in the
daily DAWN of May 6, and another special-page in THE NEWS gratis
courtesy of Mir Shakil ur Rehman, also a former student on campus.
Secondly, the initiation and commemoration of 28 Gold Medals – all
donated by ex-students from here and abroad.
The Gold Medals distribution ceremony was the one of the main
highlights of the closing-day celebrations and ably conducted by
Jeremy Nazareth, assisted by the members of The Old Patricians which
included Roshan Zamir, Feroze Turab and Menin Rodrigues. The Gold
Medals were superbly crafted by Salim Issa of London Watch Company,

on stage by Kader Shajani, President of TOPS as the recipients came
up to receive their Gold Medals from the Donors present or their
